We look for seed-stage opportunities which offer the potential of game-changing technology: something which challenges a very large marketplace with fundamental innovation offering breakthroughs in price/performance. We view a breakthrough in many cases as being ten times better than current technology, though sometimes a smaller margin of improvement is sufficient.

We like to make seed-stage investments where the technology has some initial crude proof — in other words, we do not feel we should fund pure research, but instead fund development.

We look for seed-stage opportunities in many places including universities and research labs. We realize you may not have the background to write a business plan, and for compelling technology, we will work on this with you.

All we need a summary of what the technology is, what key problem(s) it solves, why it is better than anything else out there, short biographies of the inventor and any other co-founders, and any other general information which helps us ensure this is a good fit for Pond.
